Australian Native Flower Workshop

Looking for something to do? Why not join us for our next workshop where Lyn Rattle will be teaching you how to make & put together some of Australia’s beautiful Native flowers - Waratah, Eucalyptus & Wattle.


On: Saturday the 17th of August 2013.

Time: From 1pm till approx 3.30pm

Location: The Old Cheese Factory, 34 Homestead Rd, Berwick.

Cost: Members $5.00: Non-members $10: Children under 16 $6

Please note that if you are interested in attending you will need to pre-make a couple of things & bring them with you.
List of requirements for this workshop.

For the Waratah
20 & 28 Gage White wire
25mm polystyrene ball
Red & Green (Moss or Gum leaf colour) modelling paste
Water Lilly cutters for the leaves

Please note: cut a 10cm piece of 20 gage wire, form a hook on one end & pierce through the center of the polystyrene ball, pull all the way through till it feels firm & secure. Then cover the 25mm polystyrene ball with Red paste allowing the wire to poke through & let to dry. Bring it along with you.
For the Eucalyptus Gums
Heart or Eucalyptus cutters (if you don’t have any you can freeform)
Eucalyptus coloured modelling paste, not too dark. (If you don’t have the Eucalyptus colour mix Green & Caramel Brown to make the Eucalyptus colour
18 & 26 gage white wire
Leaf Green, Blue & Aubergine petal dust or chalk (if you don’t have Aubergine coloured petal dust mix a bit of Black & White powders to achieve the Aubergine shade)
White & Green Stemtex

For the Wattle
White modelling paste
18 or 26 gage wire

Please note:

1. With your white modelling paste make about 12 little balls as big as a Green pea (or a little bigger if you like for the wattle, as in the picture above) wire them with the 18 or 26 gage wire & let dry. Bring them along with you to colour yellow at the workshop
2. In a small wide neck jar mix 20 parts of water to 1 part Lemon Yellow colour (you can use 20 tsp water & I tsp Lemon Yellow) cover & bring with you to dip your flowers in
Green modelling paste for the leaves
Brushes

A couple of polystyrene meat trays & a stand to put your work on
Bring your usual kit (rolling pin, board etc..)with you
Pen & paper to take notes
And don’t forget something to take your work back home in.
