Modern Flower Workshop & AGM


Come along and enjoy our afternoon. The modern flower is very easy to make and can be used on any cake done in a different colour
 

Date: 7 December 2013.

Requirements List:
  • 26g and 28g white wires
  • Red Modelling Paste
  • White Modelling Paste(or colours to suit your Christmas theme)
  • Green Modelling Paste
  • Green Stem-Tex
  • Red, Gold and Green Glitter(or colours to match your theme)
  • Piping Gel
  • Modern Flower Cutter(Lyn has 4 to sell if anyone wants one ($5) but you are quite welcome to use Lyn's cutter)
  • Gardenia Leaf Veiner
  • Poinsettia Leaf Cutter (Lyn has one set of these if any one wants them ($15) but you are quite welcome to use Lyn's.)

Casey's AGM 2013


Note: our AGM will now he held at our Dec Workshop on the 7/12/13

Hello Casey Members,

I would like to invite you to the annual general meeting for the Casey Branch of the Victorian Cake Decoration Society Inc.

Come along and enjoy a Saturday lunch with fellow members and shape the direction of our branch for 2013.

For the love of Chocolate Workshop

It’s that time again when the Casey Branch of the Victorian Cake Decorating Society hold our annual chocoholics day. This year again, we are lucky to have Anne from the Mixing Bowl in Hallam as our demonstrator.


On: the 19th October 2013.

Time: From 1pm till approx 3.30pm

Location: The Old Cheese Factory, 34 Homestead Rd, Berwick.

Cost: Members $5.00: Non-members $10: Children under 16 $6

As Christmas is around the corner, Anne will be demonstrating how to make & put together a CHOCOLATE Christmas Croquembouche using cream puffs filled with CHOCOLATE mousse, stuck together with CHOCOLATE & drizzled all over with delicious CHOCOLATE sauce.

Then you will learn how to make & decorate the Buche de Noel (Christmas Log) together with a few other CHOCOLATE treats.

So come along watch, learn & best of all TASTE what you have learned.

Items used in the demonstration will be available to purchase.

Australian Native Flower Workshop

Looking for something to do? Why not join us for our next workshop where Lyn Rattle will be teaching you how to make & put together some of Australia’s beautiful Native flowers - Waratah, Eucalyptus & Wattle.


On: Saturday the 17th of August 2013.

Time: From 1pm till approx 3.30pm

Please note that if you are interested in attending you will need to pre-make a couple of things & bring them with you.
List of requirements for this workshop.

For the Waratah
20 & 28 Gage White wire
25mm polystyrene ball
Red & Green (Moss or Gum leaf colour) modelling paste
Water Lilly cutters for the leaves

Please note: cut a 10cm piece of 20 gage wire, form a hook on one end & pierce through the center of the polystyrene ball, pull all the way through till it feels firm & secure. Then cover the 25mm polystyrene ball with Red paste allowing the wire to poke through & let to dry. Bring it along with you.
For the Eucalyptus Gums
Heart or Eucalyptus cutters (if you don’t have any you can freeform)
Eucalyptus coloured modelling paste, not too dark. (If you don’t have the Eucalyptus colour mix Green & Caramel Brown to make the Eucalyptus colour
18 & 26 gage white wire
Leaf Green, Blue & Aubergine petal dust or chalk (if you don’t have Aubergine coloured petal dust mix a bit of Black & White powders to achieve the Aubergine shade)
White & Green Stemtex

For the Wattle
White modelling paste
18 or 26 gage wire

Please note:

1. With your white modelling paste make about 12 little balls as big as a Green pea (or a little bigger if you like for the wattle, as in the picture above) wire them with the 18 or 26 gage wire & let dry. Bring them along with you to colour yellow at the workshop
2. In a small wide neck jar mix 20 parts of water to 1 part Lemon Yellow colour (you can use 20 tsp water & I tsp Lemon Yellow) cover & bring with you to dip your flowers in
Green modelling paste for the leaves
Brushes

A couple of polystyrene meat trays & a stand to put your work on
Bring your usual kit (rolling pin, board etc..)with you
Pen & paper to take notes
And don’t forget something to take your work back home in.

Royal Icing piping & flowers Workshop by Irene Williams

REQUIREMENT LIST:
• Royal Icing (mixed to stiff peaks)
• Extra Pure Icing sugar (sifted)
• Small container for water
• 4 small container to mix colours
• Small spatula
• Colours- Yellow, green, orange, pink or violet.
• Parchment triangles or piping bags
• Piping tube – petal (more than one if you have)
(Wilton #104 or #103 or Candyman/ icemaster #20)
• Piping tube – fine writing.
• (Wilton or Candyman / icemaster #1)
• Piping tube- leaf Wilton # 352
(If you don’t have these brands bring along what you have and Irene can help you to choose which will be best to use)
• Piping Nail
• Fine paint brush
• Scissors
• Shallow box or tray to take your flowers home.
Optional:
• Small plaques or Easter Eggs to display your flowers
